My new bag!

I love handbags and today I finished created my new bag. Not just any new bag but my absolute favourite handbag.

I know I should be using up my stash of yarn which is bursting out of the cupboard but I saw a pattern. I know all you knitters and crocheters will know exactly what I mean. You know you shouldn’t but you just can’t help it. Buying new yarn and patterns is almost as addictive as actually making the thing.

My husband just rolls his eyes and says nothing. I know what he is thinking. He is thinking I have enough yarn to open a shop. That is true – almost but not the RIGHT yarn for this project. I am lucky as I have a good one and he carries on in his man cave with bits of wood and wires. I have no idea what goes on in there as I am barred which is probably a good thing. It does normally involves banging and sawing which holds as much interest to me as a steak to a vegetarian, so I leave him to it and carry on craft shopping.

I bought the yarn from a lovely company on Etsy, MonoMey Studio. The pattern is also from an Etsy shop, Bunnyhood Shop. I love Etsy You can find pretty much any crafting item you could possibly want and it supports small independent businesses like mine. If you haven’t already, take a look. It is especially useful at times like Christmas or for alternative birthday gifts.

Anyhow, I digress. So I bought the yarn and the pattern and began. I am an experienced crocheter and I found the pattern to be relatively easy. I did need to watch a YouTube video on ICord as I haven’t ever made one before and once I got the knack it was quick and easy. Even though I have been knitting and crocheting for over 30 years, I am still learning new techniques. YouTube is great for this.

A stitch marker is a must for this project to mark the start of each round and I used my giraffe because I love giraffes as much as handbags! My life goal is to go to the giraffe hotel and have breakfast with them.

So after two evenings of hooking (a term that only sounds right in the crafting community), I have the most beautiful and useful handbag.
